Through itch, scruff, and a couple of unhappy wives, the men here at the John Wentworth Group are setting the razors aside for the month of November in a unique commitment to cancer awareness. In addition, we’re donating a percentage of closing profits to Ryan LaFontaine’s U Can-Cer Vive at the end of November.
On November first at 8 a.m. we met at Headline’s barber in Fenton for a ‘towel shave,’ and plan on waiting the entire month to shave our faces. We will be posting weekly updates in order to show our progress.
No Shave November is a charity of its own with the same cause in mind. Since 2009, the founders have encouraged men to quit shaving for a month and donate the costs of razors, shaving cream and antidotes to those pesky razor bumps to cancer research instead. The idea is to embrace the hair that so many cancer patients lose in their battle, while raising awareness and money.
Cancer has been a very personal battle for our very own Matt Bully. Each team member tackles a month to give back to a the community, and November was Matt’s chance to raise awareness for a cause so near and dear to his heart. U Can-Cer Vive has been an avenue through which he directed is support. Personally, he’s raised over a thousand dollars. U Can-Cer Vive is a 100 percent non-profit organization, and focuses mainly on cancer in Michigan. To donate to this cause, click here. Check back weekly to see how we’re doing.
