And the growth has not yet stopped. In 2017, ground will be broken on two new developments in the downtown area. A second Cornerstone building featuring multiple uses will be built on S. LeRoy Street, just south of the existing Cornerstone building. It will feature first floor retail and restaurant spaces, second-floor office space and third – and fourth – floor condominiums.

At the northwest corner of Silver Lake Road and S. LeRoy street, the “Horizon” building will be constructed. The Horizon building is a three story structure, that will feature first-floor retail and restaurant space, and second – and third – floor offices.

Ground breaking on both of these exciting new buildings is expected to take place in the spring of 2017.

The year 2016 brought some other exciting new business to the downtown, making it even more walkable. They are a women’s clothing boutique, and two more businesses by the owners of The Laundry and Crust. El Topo, a new eatery featuring South American cuisine by way of tacos opened in the old Fenton Area Resource and Referral building on Mill Street, across from the Post Office.

Behind El Topo, and you have to go through the eatery to get it, a little bit of Fenton history has come alive with a speakeasy called Fenton Relief and Resource Company.

Now that the Streetscape project, the majority of which was completed in 2015 and 2016 was mainly on the downtown area, other areas of the city are showing progress as well.

Trinity Lutheran Church completed its beautiful new, multi-million dollar church facilities in 2016 on Main Street.

On the west side of town, Target was joined by some welcome newcomers such as Maurice’s, Ulta Beauty, and Famous Footwear.
