A memorial worthy of their name, carved here in Flint.

Shadow Carvers is a family-owned monument company. We design, carve, and letter every stone in our own shop, and we come to the cemetery to add names and dates on site.

What happens after you call

We guide you through each step and keep you updated until the stone is set.

  1. Consultation

Meet with us by appointment to talk through size, granite, wording, and budget.

  2. Design proof

We draw up your memorial and adjust it until every letter is right. Nothing is carved until you approve it.

  3. Carving

Your monument is cut and engraved in our shop by the same people you met with.

  4. Setting

We coordinate with the cemetery and set the stone on its foundation.

Granite colors families choose most

Each color weathers beautifully and reads differently once lettered. Ask to see stock in person.

Colors shown are illustrations. Natural granite varies from stone to stone, and availability changes with our stock.

Common questions

Don't see yours? Call us. We're glad to talk it through.

How much does a headstone cost?

It depends on size, granite color, shape, and how much carving is involved. We give you a written quote at your consultation, and we'll help you find a design that fits your budget.

How long does it take?

Timelines vary with the design and the cemetery's approval and setting schedule. In-stock monuments can move faster. We'll give you a realistic date when you order.

Can you add a date to a stone someone else made?

Yes. With our portable lettering equipment we can add names and dates on site at the cemeteries we serve, matching the existing lettering as closely as possible.

Do you work with my cemetery's rules?

Every cemetery has its own size, material, and foundation requirements. We check them before designing so your memorial is approved without surprises.

Can I visit before deciding?

Please do. Call ahead so we can set aside time for you, and we'll walk you through the monuments we have in stock.

Can monuments be set in winter?

Some cemeteries pause foundations and settings when the ground freezes. You can still design and order during winter so your stone is ready when setting resumes.
